Pakistani Golfers Ireland held their annual Pakistan Golf Cup at Powerscourt Golf Club in July, raising an impressive €10,000 for St. Laurence’s National School in Baldoyle.
The school intends to use the generous funds to purchase much needed resources for the school, primarily focusing on the areas of numeracy to support the new Maths curriculum and literacy.
The event has been held since 2018, but this year, for the first time, organisers incorporated a charitable aspect as a way to give back to the Irish community. Funds were raised through tee box sponsorships and individual donations, highlighting the generous spirit of the Pakistani community in Ireland.
The Pakistan Ireland Business Council played a pivotal role in facilitating the event booking and providing a platform for its success. Several members of the business council generously sponsored the event, further demonstrating their commitment to supporting local initiatives.
Dr. Nasir Awan, Chairman of Pakistani Golfers Ireland, expressed his excitement about the new charitable direction the event has taken, saying “We have made Ireland our home, and have been accepted by the Irish with open hearts. And ‘Cead mile failte’ truly represents the welcoming spirit of the Irish, and we as a group have been actively looking for a way to give back to the Irish community. We often say that ‘Ireland is heaven for golfers’, and appreciate this in no small way.
